Negotiating Lithium between South America and Europe
for Batteries that Fuel a Just Energy Transition
Cover image by Glenna Haug
Green Dealings seeks to understand how rules and relationships are being negotiated and reconfigured along the lithium battery chain between South America and Europe.
Beyond critical analysis it explores how to achieve more sustainable and just relations between raw material producing and consuming regions.
Critical research
Monitor the emerging European battery sector and its implications for lithium producing regions.
Engaged research
Engage stakeholders in the research activities to foster cross-regional dialogue and collaboration.
Knowledge circulation
Share results and incorporate feedback to make sure our research is relevant for different stakeholders involved.

What are the challenges in building a sustainable and fair lithium battery value chain? Read our recent Delphi study report!
We wanted to know the points of view of diverse experts across South America and Europe! Over the last months we carried out an online Delphi study in two rounds. After each round we shared the results with participants and asked them to comment on them.
You can download the executive summaries in English, and in Spanish.
